Once again, the world has been hit by Kanye West’s race consciousness, and while “the blacks” seemingly get Kanye’s gripes with Western society, “the whites” are, well, confused.
Continuous discussions of black vs. white, us vs. them, black America vs. white America, rich vs. poor, truth vs. lies, and Kanye vs. the media, seem to be reoccuring themes within the Chicago rapper’s music.
And while most African-Americans appreciate Kanye’s willingness to share his black angst, the white media is confused and indifferent to why a rich black guy like Kanye West is complaining.
Richard’s dismissive attitude toward Kanye’s complaints are most apparent in excerpts like this:
“Not that Kanye is the first wildly successful pop artist to continue playing the part of the underdog…But if you take “New Slaves” literally, it’s hard not to call B.S. on Kanye and his “problems” and complaints. Sure, the paparazzi are leeches — but come on, buddy, you’re with Kim Kardashian, whose family practically sends out holiday cards to the jackals and hacks that “hound” them every moment. She’s in love with the paparazzi. So stop bitching.”
Like most Americans, particularly white Americans, there’s this notion that once a certain level of success has been achieved by a black individual all of their problems seem to disappear, and quite frankly, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Kanye breaks down the direct correlation of America’s classism issue and it’s interchangeable relationship with racism:
“You see it’s broke nigga racism
That’s that “Don’t touch anything in the store”
And this rich nigga racism
That’s that “Come here, please buy more”
What you want, a Bentley? Fur coat? A diamond chain?
All you blacks want all the same things”
There’s even a negative tone behind Roeper’s examination of Kanye’s clamors, with statements like “come on, buddy” and:
“I’m just wondering if the Ricketts family knew about this or saw the lyrics for “New Slaves” before someone signed off on the outside surface of Wrigley Field serving as a theater screen for Chicago’s own Kanye West rapping lyrics such as: ‘f*ck you and your corporation, y’all n*ggas can’t control me’.”
Obviously, Roeper isn’t Yeezy’s biggest fan, but it’s his coded rhetoric highlighted above that prove the validity of Kanye’s “new slave” theory.
Crediting Kanye’s wealth as the solution to his “black man” problems seem to be the typical response of white people who “just don’t get it.”
And while I give Kanye West credit for being aware of issues like the privatization of prisons and the business behind locking up young black men, with lyrics like: ”meanwhile the DEA, teamed up with the CCA/ they tryna lock niggas up, they tryna make new slaves;” it’s also his knowledge of historically important songs like Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit,” that discusses the lynching of black people in the south.
“Southern trees bear a strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.”
With all that said, it would be misguided if I ignored the obvious contradictions Kanye grapples with.
The fact of the matter is, Kanye West is conflicted soul distracted by the things that distract us ALL – money, fame and the opportunity of capitalism.
No one wants to be poor, and sometimes, to avoid living a life of mediocrity filled with commonness, one must choose.
And it’s the burden of having to choose what we know is right over what our mind desires, which plagues so many of us “successful” black folk, including Mr. West.
It’s the issue and the unforseen flaw behind W.E.B. DuBois’ Talented Tenth theory of “the best of this race (black race) may guide the mass away from the contamination and death of the worst.”
Kanye is the anti-consumerism consumer.
Kanye is annoyed by the prejudices of white America, yet he is in a relationship with the most popular white American - Kim Kardashian.
None of it makes sense, and I think it’s evident that Kanye at times feels conflicted and guilty for his blatant contradictions.
The beast of Kanye and Kim’s relationship is a complex one to understand.
Although Kim Kardashian seems to love falling in love with talented and successful black men, it’s hard to believe that she understands and is conscious of the plight of the black man.
In some ways, I feel like Kanye’s relationship with Kim Kardashian is his sick way of torturing white America by confirming stereotypes of black men “taking” America’s “revered and beloved” white women once becoming successful.
He kind of pokes at this idea when he raps:
“Fuck you and your Hampton house, I’ll fuck your Hampton spouse
Came on her Hampton blouse and in her Hampton mouth.”
There’s so many layers and deep-rooted issues within “New Slaves,” that it could take weeks to break down and examine, but Kanye got what he wanted because we’re all talking.
Kanye’s grandiose proclamations seem illogical and at times irreconcilable, but it’s Kanye’s indifference on how to solve America’s issues of racism, classism and media propaganda that play into the notion that we are all plagued by contradictory forces and tendencies.
Despite the contradictory forces that sometimes rule his life, Kanye West’s brilliance transcends far beyond the music, far beyond the egotistical rants and far beyond his fascination with materialism.
Let’s not forget, as the child of an inspiring black intellectual, Dr. Donda West, and a former Black Panther turned psychologist, Ray West, Kanye is conscious of his blackness and he’s conscious of the way he makes America uncomfortable with his bold rhetoric and blatant disregard for the perceived norm.
There’s always been an undercurrent of fear in America directed towards smart black men and women.
As “New Slaves” bold rhetoric plays in 66 cities across six continents, Kanye’s quest to explore society’s darkest injustices could be perceived as problematic by middle America.
It’s Kanye inherent need to find the absolute truth and ability to live without fear that makes him dangerous, but “what the f*ck they gon’ say now?”
This is some wiggedy wack news. Chris Kelly of the rap duo Kris Kross has passed away today. He was 34. DJ Greg Street reported his body was found at his Atlanta home this evening. According to localnews outlets, the cause of death was a drug overdose.
Back in February, he joined his other half during So So Def’s 20 year anniversary concert. R.I.P. Mac Daddy.

We all know that Beyonce is continuing her world domination with the “Mrs. Carter World Tour,” but yesterday a snippet of her super sexy collaboration with Andre 3000 hit the net and it sounds hot! Bey and ‘Dre first worked together on the 4 single “Party,” but this time around they covered the late Amy Winehouse’s hit “Back to Black” for theGreat Gatsby soundtrack, executive produced by Bey’s other half Jay-Z.
Instead of attacking the song head on and just re-singing it with their own style (the way most people would go about it), 3000 and Beyonce totally revamp the entire song, giving it new life and a completely different experimental, hip hop sound that is reminiscent of old school Outkast. Even though it’s only 1 minute and 30 seconds, you can tell that it would have made Ms. Winehouse proud #RIP.

After sharing the spotlight on the latest VIBE magazine cover, Miguel and Kendrick Lamar have linked up for the remix to Miguel’s Kaleidoscope Dream, “How Many Drinks.” The song is an honest perspective of what some men are thinking when they’re out at the club spending money on a woman.

The visual for the track strays away from having a storyline with a leading lady and instead features Miguel as an artistic performer with his band and streaming stage lights.
He recently talked to VIBE about the artistic concept, saying he wanted everyone to get a taste of his performance skills.

Miguel is at the top of the game right now. Riding the wave off his first Grammy win for ‘Best R&B Song’ (“Adorn”) and killing stages on tour with Alicia Keys. The R&B maverick is working on keeping the momentum going into the summer, as he has revealed plans to release a new set of EP’s in similar style as 2013′s ‘Art Dealer Chic.’
The three-song projects are expected to carry the same title, but give fans more. “This time it’ll be bigger and better,” Miguel told VIBE of his upcoming Art Dealer Chic minis. “I intend on having limited-edition apparel with them, so it’ll be really dope.”
While he couldn’t say whether the Art Dealer Chic EPs will lead up to a new album, Miguel has already announced his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar for the remix of Kaleidoscope Dream’s “How Many Drinks?” A fan of K Dot’s upon first hearing Section.80, Miguel says their collabo will “sound like a breath of fresh air.”
“Kendrick is poised to be the next staple in hip-hop [and] I certainly intend on becoming that for R&B,” Miguel says. “I just feel like he’s just being honest in his music. Newer, younger artists, that’s what we’re all striving to do. Just be ourselves. Kendrick is one of the best examples of that.”

On how she feels about not being recognized for her longevity and being one of the top chicks in the game
Sometimes I agree with it because I know there are a lot of talented people that have shown me a lot of love on top of my fans really expressing their love for me. Sometimes I think your ego gets in the way because you know you want everybody to feel that way about you. You want to get the credit. You want to get the props but I try not to live in that space because I know it’s ego. I’m just happy with being me. I’m happy with being able to be so connected in my being that I’m able to express that in my music. There are so many people who get the credit but they’re not really connected to their music. I would take the honesty and the connection with my music over the credit any day…but both would be nice! [laughs]”
On the current state of R&B and who she would love to collaborate with
I’m not okay with the current state of R&B. That’s why ‘Two-Eleven’ was so important to me. I wanted to do an album that contributed to that genre of music. I think it was very necessary for the music industry and the hearts of people. As far as newcomers, I hadn’t really been paying attention because I was so focused on the album but I can’t help but pay attention to Kelly Rowland. I admire her so much and would love to collaborate with her. Beyoncé is phenomenal and Rihanna is amazing too.
On how she juggles being a celebrity, a soon to be wife and a mother
I don’t know! [laughs] It’s hard. I haven’t worked this hard in my life! My daughter has her own life now. She’s getting older so she has her own schedule now. Sometimes, I want her to travel with me and she’s like ‘no mom. I have a school trip I have to go on.’ [laughs] I have a great support system though. My fiancé, my mom and god-sisters they definitely help out.
On whether she would ever do reality TV again
You know, I think I did reality TV at the wrong time. When I was on [Family Business] I wasn’t as consistent in my career. I wasn’t connected to my purpose at the time. After that, I said I wouldn’t do reality TV again but there are shows out there now like the ‘Mary/Mary’ show that are good. I would consider it if it were centered more on my career.”

A new report claims that a different frontrunner for the Kimye baby has emerged — Khrist. As in, “Christ with a K,” according to Naughty But Nice Rob.
“Kanye likes the name Khrist,” an insider says. The source is also smart to point out that Kanye has a new single coming out titled, “I Am a God,” so blasphemy isn’t really an obstacle for him: “I know it is shocking, but let’s remember that this is a guy that is naming his new CD, ‘I Am A God.’ So it makes perfect sense that the child of a god would be named Christ with a K.”
Kim is reportedly happy with her baby’s name so long as it continues her family’s K-happy traditions. Besides that, she’s surprisingly letting Kanye take charge of the task, the source says: “This is a huge decision but it is Kanye who is taking the lead.”
This seems pretty shocking — for some reason we imagine Kim wanting more control than this, but the insider claims that she simply doesn’t put as much emphasis on names as her hubby: “Yes, Kim wants the perfect name that is unusual and fun, but she thinks it’s just a name. Kanye sees a name as much more than a name, he sees it as a brand.”
Personally, I like North by North West better for a brand name than Khrist, but he’s the creative genius, right?

Last week, Miley Cyrus released a video of herself twerkin’ with a unicorn outfit on. What makes the video especially interesting is that Miley Cyrus was dancing to “Wop,” a song by independent artist J. Dash.
It’s a big look for the boy J. Dash. “Wop” was already a big record, but it’s now going to another level after Miley showed off what kind of moves she was working with.
J. Dash kicked it with Efani Allah of CreativeClientele.com, where we talked about Miley Cyrus’ twerkin,’ his musical background and what he has coming up next.
CreativeClientele.com: Is it true that “Wop” is back in the Billboard Hot 100?
J.Dash: Oh, yeah.
What number?
I’m not sure yet. I just had my interview with Billboard today and they told me I had made it back in the top 100, so I don’t know what number it is yet. Fresh news!
You don’t have to say dollar amount, but is there a big check coming your way?
I would hope so. Honestly, when something like that happens you can’t really plan it. You can’t plan for something that big to happen that quick. And so you really try to sit back and analyze the fallout from it, not just the occurrence that happened. But everything that happens around that.
Obviously you’ve seen the Miley Cyrus video, right?
Yes, sir. Miley hit me up that night.
Wait, so you and her have a relationship?
She hit me a while ago, like months and months and months ago telling me she was a fan of the record. And so, you know, we follow each other on Twitter. We DM each other every now and then, and I had no idea that she was going to post the video. And I was actually sick in bed at the time when she posted it. My phone starts going off like crazy from people hitting me up: “Have you seen it? Have you seen it?” And I didn’t know what they were talking about; I was about to turn my phone off. And then she messaged me, she was like ‘Did you check my Facebook page?’ I was like ‘Nah, I didn’t check it yet.” And I went and checked it and I saw the video and I was like ‘This is crazy.’ I was like ‘Do you realize what’s about to happen?’ She was like ‘Yeah, you dig it?’ I was like ‘I love it.’ We joked after that; we said we’re going to get matching unicorn tattoos.
Have you actually ever met her?
Not in person. We tried to meet last time in L.A. I was shooting a video in L.A., and she was actually supposed to come to the set, but she had some family stuff that was going on, and she wasn’t able to make it to the shoot. But next time I go back there, which should be in the next few weeks, we’re going to try to meet up.
What did you think of her dancing?
You know, she has successfully made twerking mainstream. And I say for that, she deserves a salute.
What has happened to you since the video dropped?
I’ve gotten a lot of Twitter followers recently. A lot of people hitting me on Facebook and Instagram and you get a lot of love on the social networks. The biggest change for me is that people are discovering other things from me now. And that’s something, as an independent artist, I struggled with for a while. Because you have a product that people know you for and we joke that “Wop” is the biggest record that nobody knows. Because “Wop” went gold before Miley Cyrus made that video, so like she made that song as mainstream as it can get. But it’s an unbelievable successfully song to be independent. And so, as an independent artist, you don’t want to be known as a one hit wonder, you want to make sure people realize this is what else I got. And me being a musician from childhood, I’m like, yeah, I did this thing but I really want you to check out all of these other things. That’s probably the biggest effect, other people are checking for me. People are discovering that I’ve been playing the piano for a long time, and I do music production as well, for movies and TV — stuff like that. People are realizing this dude might actually be a problem.
Explain your musical background a little bit.
I started playing piano when I was five. I played by ear. I took lessons for a minute, it was like classical stuff. I play by ear real strong. I can hear something one time and play it back. But the classical music got boring to me, because it was so structured. Then I got into blues and jazz music when I was 11, 12 years old. I was in Memphis on Beale Street as a 12 year old, in clubs, playing with the BB Kings and the Eric Claptons. I got to meet these people when I was that young. And those are the people I looked up to. So my musical background is very different than a lot of these dudes out here, man.
So what is it about rap that made you say, this is where I wanna take my music?
It was most relatable to me. It was the easiest way to get my story out. I had been playing piano for so long. I come from a very structured background. There wasn’t a lot of music played in my house. I had to go find it on my own. It was the thing that stuck with me the most. I was 14 years old, I discovered hip-hop, and I was like, I’m not going back to anything else.
Last year you put out Tabloid Truth, your debut album, are you happy with how it did, the reception it got?
It’s a bittersweet feeling for me, cause I got a gold record out of that album. And it was my first released single. You can’t really be mad at that as an independent artist. You can’t be mad at that, especially nowadays. But I felt like there was so much more of a message that didn’t really get highlighted on that album. And when people go back and listen to the songs like “Tabloid Truth” and “Take it Hard” they get a better sense of who I am as a person, not just as an artist. So you feel like that should have been highlighted more, but at the end of the day you take the good with the bad.
What do you have coming next?
I have a record I’m gonna release called “Winesday” featuring T.Pain that is, honestly, one of the hottest records I’ve ever heard. I’m just happy to be part of something so big.
It’s the first joint off of the new album, and it’s a huge, huge record, and it’s gonna be off a project that I am just finishing.

There was no surprise here! Rihanna’s tour buses are rolling around the states for her ‘Diamonds World Tour’. Which she reached the border between Canada and Michigan,one of her ten buses was pulled over and mary jane was found. The only surprising thing about this is that only a little was found and Rihanna herself was not on the bus. Boo hoo. TMZ reported:
A total of 10 buses were stopped at the Ambassador Bridge, which separates Windsor, Canada and Detroit. Inspectors smelled marijuana on one of the buses and initiated a secondary, bus-to-bus search.
Inspectors then brought drug-sniffing dogs on board, and one of them made a beeline for a passenger and authorities found he was in possession of pot. We’re told he was cited with a civil penalty. Rihanna was not on any of the buses.

A judge in Virginia has scheduled a two-day trial to begin in June, for an aspiring rapper who tried to sacrifice his friend – to become a member of the elusive ILLUMINATI group.
Wafeeq Sabir El-Amin, 27, was denied bond by the judge who called Wafeeq a “danger to the public.” What happened? Well police say that Wafeeq shot his friend in THE HEAD inside a music studio while he slept. The victim awoke from a drowsy sleep to see Wafeeq pointing a gun at his head and saying that he needed to be sacrificed,.
The bullet ricocheted off the victim’s hand sending bone and skin fragments into his eye, according to the warrant, but the victim was able to get hold of the gun and shoot El-Amin in the stomach before he ran off.
Wafeeq, who was heard shouting “You are my sacrifice” as he pulled the trigger, believed that a sacrifice had to occur in order to join the Illuminati.
Investigators recovered more than a pound of marijuana from the Athens Avenue home, according to the search warrant, as well as literature dealing with the Illuminati and its alleged connection to the music industry.
According to TMZ, Lil Wayne was released late last night from Cedars-Sinai Medical center in West Hollywood, where he spent the last 6 days recovering from a series of seizures. Many are concluding that the rapper’s chronicle seizure episodes are a direct result from his drug usage but Birdman claims the opposite. In a recent interview with the famous Angie Martinez, Birdman shared:

Scheduled to play a short “special guest” set after Kendrick Lamar, Trinidad James was a bit tardy and brows started to furrow, but not for long. When the Atlanta boho-loco trickster finally bounded out onstage, he even rivaled Solange for fashion-forward ridiculousness — the dude really does wear “all gold everything”! The checklist: gold and comically oversized backpack, gold teeth, gold rings, gold watch, gold-rimmed glasses, gold earrings, gold chain, black t-shirt with the chemical symbol for gold — etched in gold! And when he announced, “I fucks with everybody if you don’t give a fuck what anybody have to say,” you knew all was well. James climbed on speaker cabinets, wandered into the crowd, and took iPhone photos, as he and his crew threw multiple t-shirts to the rabid fans upfront, eventually even launching the ginormous gold backpack (which was claimed by a burly hippie with a bushy, tendril-y beard). He cranked out “One More Molly” and “Givin No Fucks” and ran out of time before “All Gold Everything,” but nobody was beefin’. For a supposed one-hit wonder, James looked like a bonafide, legitimately eccentric star. Or at the very least, one hell of a rolling one-man party. Woo, indeed.C.A.

Don’t be fooled: Suga Shane is a rap/rock god in in the making. Son walked into the bat bar as if he owned the joint! Immediately, rips off shirt exposing a tuxedo of tats and a grimy Southern slang. He brings out his two man band, a wicked guitarist and dope drummer, who was no more than 16 years old and killed the set with a crowd rocking chant, “SUGA SHANE- SUGA SHANE-SUGA SHANE! 2. Mystikal
The Main, 11:50 p.m.
Mystikal is a legend. His flow — at once conversational, like he’s playing dominoes in the park, and dizzying, like he’s trying to mimic the movements of a fighter jet — is so innovative that it’s never been imitated. He was the perfect foil for the Neptunes’ mutant swamp-funk, conjuring tracks like “Danger (Been So Long)” and “Bouncin’ Back (Bumpin’ Me Against the Wall)” that stand as some of the most bizarre songs ever to get steady radio play.
Mystikal is also a convicted rapist, and he doesn’t let you forget it. At his late set at The Main on Friday he directly addressed the women in the crowd: “Ladies, I was gone six years,” he said, referring to his prison stint. The crowd responded with wild cheers. He then said that he got tired of jerking off, which drew even louder cheers. Then he launched into a recent track called “Short Story.”
“Short Story” is a third person narrative whose obvious touchstone is “Trapped in the Closet.” Mystikal wakes up — “dick hard like wolverine claws” — and goes to a woman’s house, where they have sex before her boyfriend inevitably comes home. It’s vivid and suitably ridiculous — he includes the “bamp bamp” of knocking on the door and the “blah blah”s of the phone conversation — and he performed it with the dripping panache of a one-man show. It was something that very few, if any, current rappers would even try and pull off.
Such is the dilemma with Mystikal, an absolutely incredible talent who is, in his own way, as unrepentant about his past as Chris Brown. No other act at SXSW could close their set as Mystikal did on Friday night, with a bugged-out, inspired run of “Move Bitch,” “Bouncin’ Back (Bumpin’ Me Against the Wall),” “Danger (Been So Long),” “Shake Ya Ass,” and an a capella rendition of his James Brown homage “Hit Me.” These are songs and performances to be celebrated, to be cherished. Just when Ice started to forgive Co Co another rumor surfaced. Now Ice T is dealing with rumors of a Vegas rapper claiming to have pictures of his naked wife in bed after having sex with her. In an exclusive interview with San Francisco radio station 106 KMEL, rapper AP.9 shares private photos of Coco and what he alleges is a text conversation with her husband, Ice-T, discussing their brief affair.

The G.O.O.D. Music CEO called into the Angie Martinez Show and went off when he spoke to DJ Enuff about coming in at number 7 on MTV’s Hottest Emcees List.
Yeezy told Enuff that he feels Lil Wayne is the hottest emcees in the game. He then goes on to explain that he’s happy for Big Sean and he feels like he should be in the top 5 with the way he’s been killing verses lately.
After that Kim Kardashian’s baby daddy goes all the way in about how no verse all year was better than the one he spit on Rihanna’s Diamonds remix. Then he takes it a step further by saying no bar was better than him telling Kris Humphries he’s lucky Jay-Z didn’t drop him from the team.

After that drive-by shooting in Ft. Lauderdale, Rick Ross is taking the proper precautions to make sure that he is out of harms way from another attempt at taking his life by adversaries.
At the London Hotel in New York city, for a few days now, hired police officers are protecting Rozay, working round-the-clock guarding the hotel’s vicinity.
Sources say, these recent threats towards Ross isn’t something he is taking lightly and is taking the proper measures to be protected.
If I was Rozay I would do the same. But in the eyes of ignorant folks he is losing his “gangsta” credibility. Man o man, Bobby Brown never gives it a break. The infamous B. Brown recently got arrested and sentenced to 55 days in prison following a DUI. Billboard.com reports:
Bobby Brown’s second DUI arrest of 2012, which occurred in Los Angeles in October, has landed the R&B veteran 55 days in jail.
TMZ reports that Brown was also sentenced to four years of probation and must complete an 18-month alcohol treatment program. He was arrested Oct. 24 after driving erratically and police say he had alcohol on his breath.
Brown, 44, pleaded no contest to the charges of DUI and driving on a suspended license. He must report to jail by March 20.
Earlier in the year, in March, Brown was arrested for DUI in Los Angeles and later pleaded no contest to that charge. Under a plea agreement, Brown checked himself into a rehabilitation center in August.

The award winning actor recently sat down for a interview where he targeted the points that some actors make a point of hob-nobbing with famous and high-profile folks in the industry and getting their picture in the tabloids as often as possible. “Actually, even within the industry, I don’t have any actor friends. My friends are old friends. One’s an ex-music guy, the other’s a restaurant owner and the other’s an ex-pro ballplayer.”
When asked why he didn’t have many friends among his colleagues, Washington snapped,
“Because I don’t make friends! Maybe I’m not a butt-kisser, maybe I’m not a schmoozer. I’m not about to go to a party to try to get a job. And then when you have children, the other friends become other parents. We’d coach baseball or basketball. My wife and I were raised right. I don’t want movie-star friends. And being African American, there were no big movie stars to hang out with anyway, not when I was starting out, they were just the third guy from the back! For whatever reason, I never befriended any white actors.”
One of Washington’s public relations representatives later offer a clarification on the Guardian story, “I sat in on this interview,” the rep said. “The part they failed to mention was after he said ‘never befriended any white actors’ he mentioned ‘except,’ and then listed Tom Hanks, Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, etc. They cut the rest of the thought out. The rest is fine though.”
As the interview went on, Washington’s seem to clarify that his attitude had less to do with his opinions of his fellow thespians and more with the current culture of celebrity in America. “I’m a working actor!”he declared. “What’s a celebrity anyway? Paris Hilton’s a celebrity. I’m just a working actor.”
This week marked the 20th anniversary of hit making record label “So So Def” owned by Jermaine Dupri. The record label’s responsible for a number of A-List careers and this weekend they all paid homage to the label. Jermaine organized a SoSo Def concert at the Fox Theater in Atlanta and surprised guests with artists they haven’t seen together on stage in years. Miamians are mad as hell at rapper Lil Wayne because he said fuck the Heat, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh on Sunday at a nightclub party in Houston. Lil Wayne even claimed he had sex with Bosh’s wife. That was way out of line. However, don’t blame Weezy for talking trash.
He has no respect for the city because people in Miami’s entertainment industry — from local radio DJs to South Beach nightclub promoters to the Heat’s front office — spread their legs for him and every out-of-town celebrity who rolls through town.
Lil Wayne treats Miami like his bitch because people let him.
When Weezy claimed he was thrown out of the Heat home game versus the Lakers, the franchise tried to downplay the incident, saying they only asked him to leave and he left on his own. That was a bitch move.
The Heat should have followed the Oklahoma City Thunder’s lead. Last year, Oklahoma City representatives told Lil Wayne to take a hike when he asked for courtside seats to one of the Thunder’s playoff games against the San Antonio Spurs. The Miami Heat should be giving court-side seats to the city’s true local hip-hop heroes, like Trick Daddy and Betty Wright.
Stars can call up the Heat and get a free front-row seat or have nightclubs give them free tables and bottles of liquor whenever they want. Lil Wayne gets away with it because venue promoters are desperate to get mentioned in the gossip blogs and magazines. Local record label owners and radio station programming directors are also guilty of brown-nosing these interlopers.
Up-and-coming local artists like Alyric, K Kutta, Blaze, and YD can’t get their songs played on the radio because the stations are too busy playing shit from Cash Money Records. When the radio people get some balls and stop acting like groupies, they will stop playing Lil Wayne and company’s music.
Hell, I want to know what Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, and all these so-called 305 rappers who hang with Lil Wayne have to say about him disrespecting our home team. They need to set Lil Wayne straight. When you disrespect Miami, you can’t be allowed into any arena, restaurant, club, or even McDonald’s to get a burger. And you better not show your face in the hood.
None of this bullshit would have happened under my watch. In 1992, when I had a beef with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, they had to cancel a concert in Miami. For years, they couldn’t set foot in the 305 because it was so hot. Suge Knight had to come down and smoke a peace pipe with me.
We also kept it real at the old Miami Arena, where I had season tickets from the first tip-off on July 13, 1988. I sat in the fourth row behind the basket near former Miami City Manager Joe Arriola. For a game against the New York Knicks, filmmaker Spike Lee was sitting in front of me. It was right after he trashed me on The Arsenio Hall Show.
Joe and I cussed him out during the entire first quarter. Arriola ended up getting thrown out, but Spike didn’t come back for the second half.
I’m gonna have to come out of retirement because Miami’s entertainment industry has gone soft. I’ve got no problem telling Lil Wayne where he can go.
Erica Mena is not one chick to hold her tongue that’s for sure. After a few months full of pure drama including a fight at her own event, a petty beef with NY radio personality Angela Yee, and her “pregnancy announcement” stunt and a whole bunch of other drama. Basically she’s an old woman who has never had kids. That’s an issue she’ll have to take up with her doctor. Long story short is that she decided to take it upon herself to talk about my mothering and my child and basically crossed the line of no return. I signed up for it so I get that I’m gonna have people coming at me, but when you’re coming at an innocent child and I purposely don’t put my son out there for the public…that’s something sacred and precious to me. Rihanna’s collection for British brand River Island is slated for its debut next month during London Fashion Week.
Fashion week organizers listed the pop star on its official calendar of fall previews as they sent out registration materials on Thursday to the editors, stylists and retailers who cover designer collections.
The 24-year-old’s first collection of clothing and accessories will be shown Feb. 16. Items will be available in River Island stores in Great Britain, and in the United States and Japan at Opening Ceremony starting on March 5.
Rihanna said in a statement that an appearance at fashion week is “a dream come true.”

The longtime record producer, who was married and divorced twice, has spent the past 20 years in relationships with two men, a doctor for 13 years, and an unnamed partner for the past seven yrs, he reveals in a new memoir, “The Sound Track Of My Life.”
“For over 50 years I never had sex with a male. I wasn’t repressed. I had very good sexual relationships with women,” he tells ABC’s Nightline
The Nightline interviewer, Cynthia McFadden, pushed Davis on the issue of bisexuality, asking him about the old adage that people are “either gay, straight or lying.”
“I’m not lying,” Davis said. “Bisexuality exists.”
McFadden then asked if Davis felt ashamed after first sleeping with a man. “I never felt shame, no,” he replied. “I felt puzzled. The subject of bisexuality really needs much more discussion. It’s a status that does exist.”
Davis said his current partner attends industry events and travels with him, as any partner would, but he declined to reveal his identity in order to protect his privacy.
Davis, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, ran companies including Columbia Records, Arista Records, J Records and RCA Music Group. Two fugitives were captured by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the girls were wanted in connection to the death of a Mississippi woman who was injected with concrete, yes CONCRETE in Memphis, TN. Natasha Stewart aka Pebbelz, 39, was wanted for questioning by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department for the death of the woman who was injected with concrete in her buttocks. Stewart was arrested January 3, and charged with “Fugitive from Justice Warrant for Homicide”.
The officers also arrested 21-year-old Shannetria Newberry on Jan. 3. Newberry, on the run since August 2012, was wanted for Aggravated Assault Failure to Appear on a Felony Case, Bodily Harm and Criminal Forfeiture.
Both Stewart and Newberry are being held at the Shelby County Jail.
Rumors swirled around that Rihanna was possibly starting her on “Twerk Team”, and were starting to believe she may really be serious about it this time. This Christmas turned into a devastating tragedy for A$AP Mob’s A$AP Rocky. The young Harlem star lost his father after a battle Pneumonia. Rocky took to instagram to mourn his father and said there was no way he could look at Christmas the same again. The rapper went so far as to say he doesn’t even want to rap anymore, he just wants his dad back. A$AP’s debut album drops this January 15th but there’s no telling how promo and guest appearances will work given this sudden tragedy. Timing couldn’t have been more off but that’s life as we know it. We wish him a speedy healing process and may his father rest in peace.

A disturbing scandal that dreadfully linked Elmo with underage sex, which was later exposed to be false, has resulted in the peril of the man behind Sesame Street’s favorite red Muppet.
Kevin Clash helped mold Elmo into the ageless character that we loved as children and still cherish as adults. Since 1984, Clash has worked at Sesame Street,becoming an Emmy-award-winning performer and breaking barriers as an African American puppeteer.
However, his revered career came crashing down when an aspiring male model by the name of Sheldon Stevens claimed that Clash, who is 52 years old, sexually abused him when he was 16 years old. Stevens, who is now 24 years old, later recanted, admitting that he and the puppeteer had “an adult consensual relationship” in a statement released on Tuesday by his former legal representatives.
Although the alarming news was proven to be false, people will still remember the negative scenario that put both Clash’s personal life and sexuality at the forefront of his career.
Here’s the rundown on the man that took down Elmo!
Behind his stunning good looks and flawless physique lies the face of a criminal who’s no stranger to deception. Stevens, who sometimes goes by the name “Sheldon Xzavier,” is an amateur model from Philadelphia who’s worked in hospitality and retail and has lived in Brooklyn.
In 2009, he was arrested for stealing $250,000 worth of jewelry from his former employee while he was at an airport in Harrisburg, PA. He was spotted wearing a white gold necklace and a ring that a music manager from L.A. claimed he stole from him at knife point. Stevens told law enforcement officials that it was a “gift” and the case was eventually dismissed.
Last year, the sly pretty boy got caught passing a bad check. The charge was dropped after he settled the matter with a business in Harrisburg. And in May, he pleaded guilty to a traffic offense after he was busted for reckless driving.
Ironically, despite his criminal history, Stevens’ friends say he is a “God-fearing man” that happens to attract men in power.
On his Twitter page, Stevens describes himself as an “Entrepreneur, Student, Model, Actor,” according to The Smoking Gun. And on Facebook account, he said:
“I like to consider myself a rare breed. I’m very spontaneous and random … I’m determined and goal oriented. My destiny is laid on a solid gold brick pathway……. MY FUTURE IS BRIGHT and never will it dim.”
In reality, he’s also a student at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology and is expected to graduate with a BA next May.
His family has also been in some drama of their own. His mom was reportedly arrested and charged with an attempted murder after stabbing her boyfriend with a pair of scissors. She is scheduled to appear in court on December 19.
This troubled man looking for fame and attention has already developed a reputation that will always be tarnished and haunting. Where will he go from here?
Atlanta police are investigating a shooting that left 2-year-old Ty-Teyanna Motley shot and killed and her 1-year-old brother hospitalized.
Authorities say the shooting took place around 1:40 A.M. when someone fired at least two bullets through the bottom of the door of a red-brick house in south Atlanta.
The bullets struck Ty-Teyanna Motley and her one-year-old brother, Isaiah, who were sleeping with their grandmother in a sofa bed behind the door, said Charlie Howard, the victims’ uncle.
Ty-Teyanna was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The boy was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Police said he was stable but in critical condition. His uncle said he suffered a bullet wound near his spine.
The childrens’ uncle, Charlie Howard, says:
“We never had any problems with anybody. Whoever did that was a coward. My niece was only 2 years old. If they had a problem, they should just tell us.”
Howard was in the basement of the house sleeping with his family when the bullets shattered the home’s silence. He then rushed upstairs, finding his nephew screaming and soaked in blood and his niece was unresponsive.

Police said they had no leads but said the incident did not appear to be the result of a drive-by shooting. They asked the community for tips, but many of the neighbors who gathered around the house Saturday morning could offer little help. Several declined to speak to an AJC reporter.
The little girl’s grandfather, Tommy Wood, described her as a precocious toddler. “If she was out there now, she’d be messing with me,” said Wood, who added that Isaiah had just started to walk. “He was just getting around, just starting to know the family.”
The family is urging witness to come forward with information on the extremely tragic crime.

Though it’s not being billed as a concept album,good kid does have something like a storyline. Often set in Compton during Lamar’s teen years, it’s an album about beginning with as much innocence as anyone anywhere but eventually facing so many external pressures, be they drugs, gang activity, or poverty, that keeping the naivety intact is close to impossible. By the time “The Art of Peer Pressure” rolls around three tracks later, Lamar is puffing on a blunt even though “Usually, I’m drug-free” and “probably ‘bout to catch my first offense” for robbing the trunk of a car. And once the 12-minute “Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst” really locks in, the album hits its emotional peak, with Lamar quoting a recent conversation with a friend (“’And if I die before your album drop, I hope–”) that ends with three gunshots. It’s actually a fairly understated moment, but chilling nonetheless.

But just as impressive as all that is that he knows how to use his technical gifts, adjusting his cadence in order to get the utmost out of every last line: He approaches Minaj-ian levels of animation on the stomping to my son Neiko’s favorite joint “Backseat Freestyle”, while the easy-riding “The Art of Peer Pressure” finds him more tranquil, making sure every syllable is perfectly audible. It’s hard to get enough of such virtuosic control.

Its major-label backing and having been executive-produced by the increasingly artless Dr. Dre had people worrying that good kid would be a trudge through pop excess – but rest assured, there’s no “I Need a Doctor” here, or anything close. The album wades through a myriad of sounds, from clacking Southern stomp (“m.A.A.d city”) to exceedingly suave R&B (“Poetic Justice”) to hard-knocking West Coast grandeur (the Dre-featuring “Compton”), but none of it’s so gaudy as to guarantee endless airplay. Instead, these are songs that, miraculously, put more emphasis on atmosphere than hooks or commercial potential. Somehow, the beats — often swathed in tight bass ripples, wafting background vocals, and twinkling piano-taps — are simultaneously modest and completely pristine.
It’s a testimony to the album’s supreme unity that neither Lamar’s much-buzzed-about Lady Gaga collaboration “Partynauseous”, his Dre-featuring “The Recipe”, nor the Gunplay-assisted “Cartoon & Cereal” – three tracks that share little to nothing withgood kid‘s arc – made it onto this thing. Were this not a record so inexhaustibly committed to its vision and story, all three of those likely would have made the cut – the last two are among the best rap songs of the year, and the yet-to-be-released Gaga track already has the DNA of a hit. In this era of major-label rap records being constantly stifled by everything from incongruous guest appearances to overall sonic overload, Lamar has bypassed the norm by producing an album that’s damn near unimpeachable. The wait for Lamar and all he represents isn’t just over. We now have an album from him so masterful that it’d be greedy to ask for much more.

As we gear up for round two of the presidential debates tomorrow night, no one can forget how President Obama #FAILED in round one. Our faithful followers believed that Obama went soft in Round 1! He was too nice and too relaxed, while the Romney/Ryan camp were ruthless in their pursuit to defame, defile and outright bash the Obama administration and its’ policies.

The President failed to confront Mitt Romney on his track record, numerous gaffes and flip-flopping history. He also seemed disengaged and subdued during the first debate in Denver, much to the dismay of his supporters, who knew Obama could and should have done much better.
Since the debate, Obama has dropped hints that the next time he faces off with his Republican challenger, he will be less polite and more aggressive. A spokeswoman from the Obama campaign also reaffirmed his plan to take shots at Romney’s record as the CEO of Bain Capital.
While the President preps for the townhall-style debate tomorrow, we figured we’d help him out by going over five key points Barack needs to bring up.
So if you’re reading this, Mr. Obama, take this as a little cheat sheet that you should call Romney out on!
1. Mitt’s “47 Percent” Comment:
Last month, a video surfaced showing Money Mitt trashing 47 percent of the nation as government dependent moochers and “victims” that he doesn’t plan to “worry” about, because he won’t “convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” Soon after, and during the first debate, Romney contradicted himself and said that he cares about 100 percent of Americans.
Obama reasoned that he didn’t bring this up before because everyone has already heard it, yet it proved to be effective when VP Joe Biden used it as a point of reference during his VP debate with Paul Ryan. And so Obama should do the same.
2. “Mitt Romney don’t pay no tax!” – Kanye:
Obama should mention the fact that Money Mitt only paid a 14 percent tax rate on the $20 million that he made last year. Plus, on CBS’ 60 Minutes, Mitt stated he sees nothing wrong with the fact that he pays less taxes than an average working Joe making $50,000 a year. Not to mention he still hasn’t released his own tax returns for his years at Bain.
3. Romney, the Businessman:
When Obama brings up Money Mitt’s 10-year reign as the CEO of Bain Capital, he should point out that the company outsourced American jobs and laid off hundreds of thousands of workers.
4. He’s a Flip-Flopper:
Since Mitt Romney’s political career began, he’s had a terrible record of flip-flopping on major issues in an attempt to pander to different audiences. He’s taken confusingly contrasting views on abortion, gun rights and universal healthcare.
5. Women’s Rights – Ring The Alarm!
Since running for the presidency, Romney has been a pro-life advocate who’s threatened to take away a woman’s right to choose by overturning Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that gives women constitutional and legal rights to have an abortion. He also plans to defund Planned Parenthood, which offers low-income women access to free breast cancer screenings and safe alternatives to child bearing.
ATLANTA — Rick Ross’ Maybach Music camp is involved in quite a bit of drama, with both Young Jeezy and 50 Cent’s camp.
During Saturday’s (September 29) taping for BET’s 2012 Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta. Rozay and the Snowman reportedly got into a shoving match backstage before the scuffle spilled outside into the parking lot. Shots were fired and at least one man was said to be arrested.
That’s not all. Multiple sources who witnessed the beef confirmed to CreativeClientele.com’s Efani Allah, that Ross’ protégé Gunplay was also involved in a little tussle with members of 50 Cent’s G-Unit camp. Gun was seen with visible wounds and a witness told us that the Miami MC was put into handcuffs and detained, but a separate source close to Gunplay told us that he was not arrested.

Most of the crowd inside the Atlanta Civic Center, where the taping took place were unaware of the drama that jumped off around the same time that A Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes paid tribute to fallen music mogul Chris Lighty. 50 Cent and Fat Joe, who have quarreled repeatedly semed to have put their differences aside for the moment as they too appeared on stage to honor Lighty. Both Rick Ross and Jeezy also performed different sets during the award show.
New York DJ Funkmaster Flex took to Twitter to broadcast his account. “Jeezy and Rick Ross just had words backstage!! Pushing and shoving,” Flex wrote. “Shots fired in parking lot!!! Gunman arrested!!!”
Machine Gun Kelly also seemed to get caught up in the whirlwind as well. “Got mase in my eyes. That beef sh– just got real,” he tweeted.
A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department told TMZ, “Shortly after 7:15 pm Saturday, a fight broke out in the parking lot at the Atlanta Civic Center (where the awards were being taped) between two groups. Officers on scene responded to break up the fight and used OC spray [commonly known as pepper spray] in the process. Individuals fled the scene. There were no arrests or reports of serious injuries. Reports of shots fired appear to be untrue.”

The Born This Way superstar recently posted a half naked picture of herself to her website with the caption, “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15,” to show that she is struggling with her eating disorder but taking care of herself.
Gaga has been receiving some judgments from the media this week since photos came out of her looking a little thicker than what we usually see, but they could have been photoshopped.
Even though she admitted to the NY Daily News that she gained 25 pounds recently, she still looks like her same beautiful self in other recent pictures.
Gaga decided to take action and made a sub-section on her Little Monsters website called “Body Revolution” for fans to talk about their “perceived flaws” as she puts it:

At 22, Ms Strauss was an aspiring model and a finalist in cycle eight of the Tyra Banks hosted show, But now, the 28-year-old’s family says she is close to losing her battle with methamphetamine.
In what they say was a last ditch effort to reach out to their daughter, the family enlisted the help of Dr Phil. However on the episode, which airs on September 13, ‘the full blown meth addict’ resists all help.
With Ms Strauss living on the streets, Dr. Phil her brother, Brandon, and mother, Debbie, go to her hometown with the hope of finding her. Reluctantly, she agrees to travel to Los Angeles to see Dr. Phil.
However, after she is seen physically resisting being placed on the Dr Phil stage, she then runs away, out onto the Paramount lot.
Dr. Phil follows her, and makes a point of noting: ‘This is the first time in ten years I’ve come out here, [and it's] to talk to you.’

After attending numerous fashion shows during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Kim did a quick outfit change and the couple headed to a romantic dinner at Nomad in the East Village.
Yeezy opened the door for his girl, and grabbed her hand before they headed inside the trendy New York eatery. ‘Ye most likely helped his girl pick out a sporty-themed outfit for the night, complete with Varsity jacket, a tight skirt, sexy heels and a slicked back pony.
That was just a preview for a relaxing night, because Kim had an early bedtime. So early, that most of us were probably still in a deep sleep!

Over the years, Dallas has produced Playmates such as as former Real Housewife Jeana Keough (NSFW link), the barely-legal Katie Vernola and Miss September 2011 Tiffany Toth.
Casting call producer Stacy Collins says they’re searching for “beauty inside and out.”
“We’re really looking for that beautiful girl next door who you might run into at the gym or at Starbucks,” says Los Angeles based Playboy photographer Efani Allah, now living in Dallas. “Maybe she was voted ‘Biggest Flirt’ in high school because she has some sass or swagger.”
Candidates must be 18 and provide two forms of ID (Collins says they’re “sticklers” on the age thing), but other than that, all are welcome. “We get college students, housewives, fitness models, girls of all shapes and sizes.” The audition calls for some nudity — “topless at a minimum,” Collins says.

Last week, Kanye West tweeted that he wrote his yet-to-be-released song “Perfect Bitch” about his mega-reality-star girlfriend Kim Kardashian. I watched as women retweeted his tweet with “Ohhs” and “Awws” noting that it was “so sweet” for Kanye to write a song about his perfect bitch and that this love must be real…
I wondered how Kim felt about being called a bitch. I knew how I would feel about being called a bitch.
Last night the video was released for Lupe Fiasco’s “Bitch Bad,” and all the light bulbs lit up, I released a proverbial sigh, shook my head and said “finally.” Lupe had armed himself using hip-hop to fight against hip-hop and provided a visual that spoke volumes, and all I could do was hope the rest of the world was listening.
The video for “Bitch Bad” opens up with film reel scenes of a white man counting money outside of a theater, and laughing, and then cuts between a rapper and “video vixen” dealing with the stresses of playing “black face” for the love of money.
I will save you a full breakdown of the video (which you can watch above) but, Lupe Fiasco touches on breakdowns of mainstream culture that some haven’t been exposed to outside of a women’s studies classroom.
My purpose is not to dissect the meaning of the video, my purpose is not to talk about how the rap game has us tainting our youth, you can read that just about everywhere, but my purpose is to reiterate the importance of not succumbing to the images of the “bad bitches” that are force fed to us.
Lupe does an amazing job of bringing the main topic to the forefront: women and girls are sculpting themselves after an ideal that isn’t realistic, after the “bad bitch” trolloping on their television. The topic of the portrayal of women in music videos may be an old one, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a very valid one.
The role of the video girl has evolved drastically since the days the Fly Girls were performing choreographed moves on television. Our roles on videos have gone from a shoulder shimmy and head nod in a bikini, to gyrations on a pole with blurred out additives, and I don’t use the word additives lightly.
Women are being transformed to “bags of money” sporting fake hair, fake breasts, butts, lashes and nails and dancing over tracks to men claiming that they want a “real bitch,” a real “bad bitch,” of course.
As Lupe points out in “Bitch Bad,” we have little girls who see this as their reality. Their perception of what a “real woman” is, is crafted after the “bad bitch” that their favorite musical artists lust after in their videos. Their perception of a “real” desirable woman is molded by what they are seeing on TV.
And quite frankly, where does a real girl fit in in a world of “bad bitches” made of plastic? There was once a time where Barbie was blamed for warping body imagery, now we have women claiming to be Barbie that our youth is lusting after.
In SPiN Magazine’s combative review of the video, the question was prompted: “Its hook goes, “Bitch bad, woman good, lady better,” which sounds sweet and all, but does any female want to be called “a lady”? “
Wedded bliss didn’t last too long for Chad Johnson and his Basketball Wivesstar spouse Evelyn Johnson. According to reports in Florida, the Miami Dolphins receiver was arrested last night (Aug. 11) and charged with domestic violence after a heated confrontation. Dolphins receiver Chad Johnson was arrested Saturday on a domestic violence charge, accused of head-butting his newlywed wife during an argument in front of their home outside Miami.
Johnson and his wife, Evelyn Lozada, were at dinner and she confronted him about a receipt she had found for a box of condoms, said Davie police Capt. Dale Engle. The argument got heated and continued on the drive home, he said.
When they arrived in their driveway in Davie, the 34-year-old Johnson head-butted Lozada, she told police. Lozada, who is on the reality show, “Basketball Wives,” was treated at a hospital for a cut to her forehead, Engle said.
Johnson, who changed his last name back to Johnson from Ochocinco after his July 4 wedding to Lozada, was being held Saturday night in Broward County Jail where he will remain until he can appear before a judge, which Engle says might not be until Monday. He is charged with simple battery, domestic violence, which is a misdemeanor.
Team officials were “aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering of relevant information,” Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said.
Johnson’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declined to comment.
Johnson signed with the Dolphins in June, four days after he was released by New England. A six-time Pro Bowl receiver with Cincinnati, he caught only 15 passes in 15 games for the Patriots last year after they acquired him in a trade for a pair of draft picks
On Friday night in the Dolphins’ 20-7 loss to Tampa Bay in the exhibition opener, Johnson let the only pass thrown to him slip through his hands.
He was known as Ochocinco for the past four seasons. The name was a playful reference to the No. 85 he wore on his jersey.

Frank Oceanis responsible for not only releasing one of the best albums of the year with his debut LPChannel Orange (read our glowing review here), but the R&B singer has made an unprecedented move in the hip-hop world by voluntarily coming out.
Since publishing his July 4 Tumblr post, in which he revealed that he fell in love with a man when he was 19-years-old, Ocean has received support from his musical friends and peers Beyonce, Jay-Z, Russell Simmons,Drake, Tyler The Creatorand 50 Cent. Though Fiddy had vaguely suggested that Frank’s candid blog post may have been written in order to drum up publicity for his album, in an interview with UK’s The Guardian Guide, the artist reveals that the decision to come out was “about my own sanity and my ability to feel like I’m living a life where… I’m happy when I wake up in the morning, and not with this freakin’ boulder on my chest.”
By being true to himself and being able to freely discuss his sexuality with the public, Ocean looks to be the role model that he never had. “I wished at 13 there was somebody I looked up to who would have said something like that, who would have been transparent in that way,” he said.
The 24-year-old had planned to use his beautifully-written coming out story in the liner notes of Channel Orange upon its release, but decided to show it to the world early when music reviewers began to raise questions based on early listenings of his album.
Ocean explains to Efani Allah, “I knew that I was writing in a way that people would ask questions,” he said. “I knew that my star was rising, and I knew that if I waited I would always have somebody that I respected be able to encourage me to wait longer, to not say it til who knows when.”
“People are just afraid of things too much,” he said. “Sure, evil exists, extremism exists. Somebody could commit a hate crime and hurt me. But they could do the same just because I’m black. They could do the same just because I’m American.”

What a tragedy! A catastrophic tragedy struck this weekend when 11-year-old Kile Glover, son of Tameka Raymondand Ryan Glover, and stepson to Usher Raymond, was struck by a jet ski while tubing at a local lake in Atlanta, GA.
As Kile was left brain dead from the incident, a source close to the family says Usher is “torn up.”
“Tameka and Usher don’t get along, but in this circumstance Usher is coming to her side…Usher practically raised Kyle as his own. He’s known him for seven years. It is so sad what happened.”
Adds another source:
“He grew close to Kyle and, of course, that has nothing to do with the situation with Tameka…He loved Kyle. This is a terrible, awful tragedy. Usher is torn up.”
Since “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” premiered on VH1, fans have pegged cast member Joseline as not only a home wrecker, but potentially a transgendered contestant, too.
And for whatever reason, the idea that Joseline is or was a man—which is of course nothing but pure speculation—has caused fans of the show to spew hateful comments about the female rapper on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets.
Yes, Stevie J gets a lot of hate mail, too. What’s going on between him and Mimi is shocking, and on episode 3 of “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” Stevie J attempted to intimidate Erica with veiled threats after she mocked him.
That kind of fan venom, especially from female viewers, is to be expected.
But a special kind of disdain is reserved for Joseline, a woman who most fans never even had heard of just one month ago.
There’s no doubt that Joseline deserves serious criticism for being Stevie’s jump off, and if the rumors are true that she aborted Stevie’s baby, she’ll likely feel some serious wrath from the show’s hard core viewers.
But it’s the transgender card that continues to get pulled in Joseline’s face, so much so that the reality star opted to post a nude photo of herself online to prove she isn’t a man.
That hasn’t stopped fans from calling out Joseline for not being 100% female, however. This video illustrates the fact well, where media personality Cadillac Kimberly appears to have no problem pointedly asking Joseline if she’s a man—directly to Joseline’s face.
After a season of “Basketball Wives,” which saw fans sign petitions in an effort to boycott the show for itscelebration of bullying, how ironic is it that many of the same viewers (“Love and Hip Hop” and “Basketball Wives” are similar shows with similar audiences), are now choosing to bully one of the show’s stars based solely on her looks?
Efani Allah inside thought!!!!!!!! Prior to this weekend, I thought Comic Con was a huge convention for comic book nerds, sci-fi freaks, S & M aficionados and Grown ass men who get to play dress up for an entire weekend without being judged…well not by their counterparts at least!
The place was packed!
But, before we get to that, a little about my day before arriving…
Going to the convention was a lot different for me this time. I wasn’t really going to have fun, I did though; I went to shoot the incomparable Dallas model Melissa Buchanan, along with stylist Jordan Filoon and Creative Clientele crew!
After being on set for about an hour, we witnessed the masses pour into the convention center by the droves! Lukily our set was on the outside of the center, because inside was a madhouse!Never attending one of these events, I got lucky and scored five media passes from event director Kathy Goldberg…Thanks Kathy!
we were fortunate to skip all lines and even be the first fashion team to shoot inside of ANY COMIC CON event …period!
At the end of the day, I got to shoot Melissa with an official Storm trooper from the Empire Strikes Back series, hold a real rocket launcher from an Modern Warfare II enthusiast, and create an amazing portfolio booster with the amazing shots captured on my Nikon D700!
It was 1983 the first time I knew what love meant! I was chillin in Inglewood, Cali and sitting on my momma’s porch and my cousin and I saw these in velour Puma sweatsuits walking down the block blasting some crazy music! Something we never heard before, electronic funk with a heavy 808 bass to it. It was Afrika Bambaataa and the SoulSonic Force’s “PLANET ROCK!” The cat holding the boombox, so close to his ears that it appeared to be glued to it, was like the Pied Piper walking through the neighborhood. I swear there was 30-40 neighborhood kids following this brother down to the Inglewood Recreation Center, where we were to be joined by 200+ kids who would witness the birth of hip hop in our very own neighborhood. This is when I fell in love with artists like UTFO, BIG DADDY KANE, BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS, THE JUICE CREW, ERIC B. & RAKIM, PUBLIC ENEMY, BIZ MARKIE, LL COOL J, KOOL MOE DEE, ROB BASE & EZ ROCK, etc.
It was four fingered rings, adidas sweatsuits and sneakers, high top fades, gumby’s, parachute pants, windbreakers, dookie rope chains, gazelles, diadoras, lottos, bboy stances, cassette tapes and 45′s, etc. I loved it all! Our relationship blossomed into something special…Hip Hop I loved you then and always will!

The hip-hop community has also been vocal about the delicate matter, which has overwhelming racial implications. “It’s something very near and dear to me, because my son is around his age,” Young Jeezy told MTV News last week. “He looks like an innocent kid. I understand the situation as far as dude wanting to be [on] neighborhood watch, but everybody that’s black and young ain’t up to no good.”
On February 26, Martin was shot dead by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman as he walked through a gated Sanford, Florida, community. Zimmerman believed Martin — who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt — looked suspicious, so he called 911. The police dispatcher advised Zimmerman not to pursue the teen, but he reportedly ignored those instructions. By the time police arrived on the scene, Martin was dead. Although Zimmerman admitted to the shooting, police declined to arrest him citing the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which allows a person to kill in cases of self-defense.
Mobb Deep’s Prodigy doesn’t understand why local authorities didn’t take Zimmerman into custody. “To me, it’s up to the police department out there in Sanford to handle that the right way,” he said. “They were supposed to arrest him.”
“It’s unfortunate any time things like that happen, and I don’t know exactly what the motivation of the man who actually killed him was, but it doesn’t feel positive,” 50 Cent said. “For any circumstances when someone’s killed and there’s a person there that we know did it, regardless of their intentions at that point, there’s right and wrong. And I think that it’s obvious who’s wrong in this actual situation.”
Over the past week, there have been rallies calling for the arrest of Zimmerman in New York City, Chicago and Trayvon’s native Sanford, Florida. During a March 23 press conference, President Obama said if he had a son “he’d look like Trayvon,” and on Wednesday (March 28), Illinois Congressman Bobby Rush was removed from the House floor after he gave a speech in support of Martin while wearing sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt in a symbolic show of solidarity.
Game believes Trayvon’s death is another example of racial injustice in America. “For some reason, people don’t think that they need any excuse to kill us, beat us, hit us, run us over, disrespect us or anything like that,” he said. “This is just another reminder that stupidity still exists.”
Killer Mike took a militant stance, expressing his frustration with the so-called Stand Your Ground law. “If we’re not gonna change the laws, then we have to change our mentality,” he said, urging young black men to arm themselves as long as they operate within the confines of their state’s gun laws.
Trying to make sense of a senseless act, Nas hopes that young Trayvon didn’t die in vain. “Maybe he thought in football he’d have a legacy,” Nas reasoned, “but now his legacy can become something that helps change things, hopefully.”
Over the past few years, the whispers have gotten louder and louder from Black and Latin hip hop video models such as Melyssa Ford, Bria Myles, Esther Baxter and more who have dominated the hip hop scene for several years now! The complaints, are as the new, ushered in White models state “Hating” that spill out of the Queens of hip hop videos and magazines are extremely direct and targeted towards these WHOOTY’S… White girls with booty! Rather freshly injected, or as they would like to believe- Naturally born with butts, are flooding hip hop epicenters like Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Vegas! Models like Amazing Aimee, CoCo, and Dallas born model Csilla Ray…claim that she always had booty and hip hop has always been her preference! To be fair, women of color in the industry are getting just as much work done as their white counterparts. Models period, simply need to always continue working on their craft and push the envelope or watch it get folded over them. So for any model, white or not, why not make the transition into the game, no matter who thinks they are/were running it…Step your game up!
